More about Dianne
Many of us will experience traumatic or troubling life events that leave us struggling to cope. What we need at these times is understanding, empathy and someone who can truly listen. What we often receive instead is unsolicited advice and opinions.
We are in the midst of a global pandemic, which has been the most prolonged period of uncertainty and threat that many of us will have experienced in our lifetime. And yet, many people minimise or underplay the very real anxiety and low mood they are feeling, for fear they will not be understood.
I offer a confidential, non-judgemental space where you can explore current worries or issues, or to explore feelings that may have been buried for a long time. I don't seek to quantify or compare levels of distress or need, instead I meet the client where they are and honour their experience.
I am a counselling psychotherapist, practising in a person-centred way with an underpinning of psychodynamic practice. I believe that our resilience to life events is significantly shaped by our earliest experiences and relationships.
I have worked and volunteered within a variety of settings, gaining experience of supporting survivors of rape and sexual assault, domestic abuse, childhood abuse, poverty and neglect. I have developed my understanding of gender, sexuality and identity through working as an Equalities champion and this is an area of particular interest.
In my counselling work, I have supported clients with anxiety, depression, bereavement and loss, relationship breakdown, work-related stress and trauma associated with early life experiences, among other issues.
I would be very happy to discuss how I can work with you, to help regain the quality of life that you deserve.
