We’re simply a bridge between you and your therapist. What you speak about is ALWAYS confidential.
What is therapy?
Therapy is a conversation with a professional who is trained to help you explore, understand and manage thoughts, feelings, beliefs and behaviours that affect your life in a negative way.
When is therapy right for me?
Talking to someone about a problem or issue is beneficial to everyone. If something hasn’t felt right for a while, even if you can't put your finger on what is wrong, then therapy can help you address these issues that may be affecting your work, study or homelife.
You might feel like therapy is only for extreme cases, but we want to make speaking to a therapist as routine as seeing a dentist or doctor. Why? Because we all have issues – every one of us – and that’s nothing to be ashamed of. In today’s always-on, always-connected society, it's essential to take a time out.
glyde should not be treated as an emergency service. If you are in danger of self-harm, please visit your local Accident & Emergency (A&E) department or book an Emergency GP appointment as soon as possible.
What can therapy treat?
Depression, anxiety, stress – pretty much anything that's troubling you or causing you to feel down.
The sheer act of talking to someone often helps people uncover underlying causes for many issues. Perhaps it's a particularly stressful period in your life – work issues, loss, relationships, health or money worries – or sometimes it's just an accumulation of mental wear and tear. Talking to a trained professional can help with all of these things.
What about my privacy?
Your therapist won't divulge any details of your therapy to anyone. If your employer is paying, they won't even know that you've booked an appointment.
Your personal details (name, email address etc.) are encrypted on our database and no details about your therapy itself is stored on our system.
Apart from you, the only person who will ever know any details of your treatment is your therapist.
How does video calling work?
Many therapists offer the option of video calling – this will be stated on their profile page. Both Zoom and Skype are free of charge, though you'll need to download their software onto your device.
Your session will begin by phone and can continue by video call if desired.
