More about Phoebe
Therapy isn't an easy thing to do. It takes courage to begin letting someone into your world and trusting them with your thoughts and feelings and it takes commitment to stick with something which at times may feel as though it is getting worse before it gets better.
The fact that you are here reading my profile means that you have already done part of the hard work and are reaching out looking for support. Therapy can be challenging, but the impact of therapeutic work can be extremely positive; it can offer support, understanding and clarity which can result in stronger relationships, a stronger sense of self, your needs and how to meet them in a healthy way.
Choosing a therapist can be hard work in itself. In order to help you decide if we might be a good fit I will tell you a bit about myself and how I work.
I am a psychodynamically trained psychotherapist which means I work with my clients to explore current circumstances and past events, considering difficulties they are having and how all these things may be linked.
During the assessment session/s I may be quite directive as it is helpful to get a full picture but if there is ever something you are unhappy to discuss at that time it is important that you know that is no problem.
Other than this I believe it is important for most sessions to be client-lead as the space is there for you - it is not about what I feel you should be talking about - though I may ask questions to help you think further about what you bring to our time together.
I am experienced in working with both adults and adolescents in areas that include but are not limited to anxiety, depression, thoughts of suicide and suicidal behaviours, self-harming behaviours, anger, miscarriage, relationships difficulties, low self-esteem and confidence, gender identity and sexual and domestic abuse.
Phoebe offers video calls via Skype
